Release Date: November 6, 2017
Version: RAM Concept CONNECT Edition V6 Update 4
Version Number: 06.04.00.06
Download Instructions
Current and past RAM Concept releases can be downloaded from Bentley Cloud Services at: http://connect.bentley.com
After signing into CONNECTION Center, select Software Downloads under My Support, towards the bottom of the page. Once on the Software Fulfillment page, RAM Concept installers can be located by performing a search on "RAM Concept", or by selecting Brand -> RAM.
Note: Although there are multiple listings for RAM Concept (RAM Concept, RAM Concept Post Tension Module, etc.), each of these takes the user to the same list of installers, as all features of RAM Concept require only one installation.
Special Notices
This release no longer provides a x86 version of RAM Concept. Starting with CONNECT Edition Update 3 (6.3.0), RAM Concept is available only as a 64-bit application.
The installation of RAM Concept will automatically uninstall previous CONNECT Edition versions (6.0.0 through 6.3.0). V8i releases (version 5.2.0 and earlier) will not be automatically uninstalled and can remain side-by-side with RAM Concept CONNECT Edition V6 Update 4.
If using the RAM Concept integration with RAM Structural System, the x64 version of RAM Structural System must be used (as opposed to x86). RAM Concept CONNECT Edition V6 Update 4 is recommended for all projects, except those nearing final design.
New Features
RAM Concept CONNECT Edition V6 Update 4 has the new features discussed below.
ACI 318-14
The provisions of 2014 Edition of ACI 318 are added in this release.
Calculate Column Strip Width as Percentage of Total Strip Width
There is now a new parameter associated with Span Segment objects. This parameter is set on the Strip Generation tab of the Span Segment object properties dialog and is used for the basis of the column strip width when generating strips. The column strip width may now be specified as a percentage of the total strip width. This new option is listed as % of Total Width along side the existing options Full Width, Code Slab, Code T-Beam, and Manual.
Specify Number of Stories for Required Tie Strength Per Eurocode 2, Part 1-1, Clause 9.10
The tensile force that peripheral and internal ties are required to resist per Eurocode 2, Part 1-1, Clause 9.10 is dependent on the number of stories. Previously, RAM Concept conservatively assumed the number of stories to be 10. RAM Concept now allows the number of stories to be input by the user.
Error Corrections
RAM Concept CONNECT Edition V6 Update 4 has the error corrections discussed below.
Support Widths for Span Segments Supported by WallsWhen generating strips for span segments prior to running a Calc All, the support widths for span segment objects that were supported by walls was set to zero. This was corrected after running a Calc All, but prior to that these values would show as zero.
Default Values of Long-Term Loss
The default Long-Term Loss values in the Materials criteria for AS3600 and EC2 were not consistent with post-tension tendon parameters.
Preventing Restart After Silent Installation of RAM Concept
RAM Concept can be installed silently with the following command:
rct0600400xxen.exe /install /passive
Note that the /passive operand disables all dialogs, including any restart confirmation dialog. The system will restart immediately if needed. To prevent an immediate restart after the installation, include the /norestart option:
rct0600400xxen.exe /install /passive /norestart
Transparent White BackgroundSetting the background color of a plan to completely transparent white caused a program error.
File Compatibility Warning
RAM Concept CONNECT Edition V6 Update 2 can read all previous file formats, but writes files in a format that cannot be read by previous versions.
