My company has custom steel section databases and these are mdb files. How can I get these sections into the STAAD.Pro CONNECT edition ?

The section databases in earlier versions of STAAD.Pro were MSAccess databases (mdb files) whereas in STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition, these have been changed to SQLite databases (db3 files).

Any older mdb file that you may have, can be easily converted to the db3 format following the procedure outlined below

Click on Section Database from within the Specification ribbon menu as shown below

From within Section Database Manager, choose the options marked below and click on the Convert button ( the existing database file is assumed to be aiscsections_ml_SLS )

A command prompt window will show up as seen below showing a message that data has been successfully exported

Click on the "X" to close the command prompt window and note that a "Database converted successfully" message is also displayed at the bottom of dialog box

Click on the "X" to close out of the dialog box and close out of Section Database Manager and out of STAAD.Pro

Now manually copy the aiscsections_ml_SLS.db3 file into the following folder

“C:\Users\<user profile name>\AppData\Local\Bentley\Engineering\STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition\Default\Sections”

Re-launch STAAD.Pro and you should now be able to access the section database
