I have defined my design parameters but the software is not designing the members and I am not getting any utilization ratios. Can you please let me know why ?
There are a few things that you need to check
- There should be a design command added at the end of all of the design parameters. For example for steel or timber design, you should have a CHECK CODE command and the command should be assigned to the appropriate members. Similarly for concrete, you should have a DEISGN BEAM or DESIGN COLUMN command and those should be assigned to appropriate members.
- You need to make sure that your design code selection matches with the material. For example if you have timber members but have chosen a steel code as the design code like AISC, AISC 360, IS 800 etc. the software would not be able to design the members. You need to choose a Timber design code in this case like AITC, ECS etc.
- Design of certain section types may not be supported in certain design codes. So if you are trying to design such a section type, that is currently not supported by that design code, you may not get a design. However if that is the case, the software would generate warning/error messages as part of the analysis output file. The Help documentation for every design code would also contain details on what sections are supported and you may refer to those for more information.
