In RAM Connection, usage counts more than the threshold limit. For example, one account is using 2 Licenses with threshold alert set to 2 and Offline usage was disabled. In such case, QTL counts more than 2 usage. This was seen in Open Flow as well.Solution:
Offline usage can still happen, however. If the user is online when they start the app, but then at some point they lose connection then they will not be able to do live usage reporting. The license client will wait for 3 minutes and if it still can’t contact our servers, then it will put a message in front of the product that it needs to be shut down.
For some products, clicking OK in this message will result in the product shutting down automatically and usage logging will end at that point. For Some products like OpenFlow and RAM Connection that is not the case. The user has to manually shut the product down. If they don’t, if they ignore the message and keep working, then it will keep logging usage in offline mode and that usage will get sent later. If the machine is offline, though, and not doing live usage reporting, it can’t be used for alerting. So that offline machine is removed from the list and the next person in will not necessarily get the threshold alert. This issue was reported to Development Team for it's evaluation and fixation.Request for Assistance 948388: SES-Offline Usages Were Logged While Offline Disabled - Boards (visualstudio.com)
