Analysis is getting stuck in an endless loop, terminating with an error, or producing strange results.

 

If you are encountering any of these behaviors (or any behavior that seems odd or out of place), first check the Job Setup to see if it includes the primary load cases.  If so, edit the job to remove them as shown below:

There are two reasons this is important.  First, generally speaking design should only be performed using load combinations as opposed to individual primary load cases.  Second (and more importantly) is the fact that the inclusion of primary load cases will often cause difficulties in the analysis/design routines, especially lateral loads such as wind or seismic.  This is because they are not realistic loading conditions when acting alone.  For example, in reality seismic loads would never act on a foundation without dead load acting simultaneously to stabilize things.  As a result, in STAAD Foundation Advanced instability issues can arise when primary load cases are included in the job setup, leading to a variety of potential problems (most of which can be avoided by omitting the primary load cases.)
