When I try to open STAAD Foundation Advanced, it gives me an error saying that I don't have the license, and then the application closes. It doesn't give me the chance to switch back to using just the STAAD.Pro license. How can I get it back to the limited STAAD.Pro license?

There are 2 license types for STAAD Foundation Advanced: a full STAAD Foundation Advanced License (which allows to use all foundation types in the program) and STAAD.Pro License (which allows to use only Isolated, Pile Cap and Combined footings). This license type can be selected in the License Configuration dialog, which can be opened from STAAD Foundation by going to Home -> License Configuration or as explained here.

However, there could be cases when the user had selected the full STAAD Foundation Advanced license by mistake and its trial period had expired. In that case the user will get a message that STAAD Foundation Avanced cannot be opened as the Trial has expired of similar. In such case, the user does not have an option to open the License Configuration dialog anymore to switch to a limited STAAD.Pro license option.



However, there is a way to manually reset the license type from full STAAD Foundation Advanced to STAAD.Pro even without opening the License Configuration dialog. To do that, open the Registry Editor (launch the registry editor by typing the word “regedit” in the Windows search box and choosing the Registry Editor) and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bentley\IEG\STAAD Foundation Advanced\License Configuration. Here you should find a string called ProductType. Double click on it and change the value from STAAD Foundation Advanced to STAAD.Pro. This will reset STAAD Foundation Advanced to use a STAAD.Pro license instead of STAAD Foundation Advanced license.
