Horizontal Gusset Connections

Horizontal Bracing Joints

In RAM Connection, the following types of horizontal bracing connections can be modeled and designed:

Joint Data / Load Data

In RAM Connection, the following sections can be assigned to horizontal bracing joints:

Column Sections

Beam SectionsBrace Sections
  • I-Shaped
  • Rectangular
  • I-Shaped
  • Angles
  • Tee-Shaped
  • Double Angles

In RAM Connection, axial forces can be assigned to the brace members as follows:

Horizontal Bracing Connections

In the Connection Pad, the following connection parameters can be customized:

In addition, the following connection configuration parameters can be customized:

HCBB: Horizontal Column - Beam - Brace Connection Options

Gusset Directly Bolted to Members: By default, the gusset will not be directly bolted to members. In the Connection Pad, you can modify this parameter so that the gusset will be bolted to the top flange of the beam members.

Gusset to Beam Connector Type: During the connection assignment, you have the option to assign a gusset connection that is directly welded to the beam(s) or connected with a clip angle.

HBBB: Horizontal Beam - Beam - Brace Connection Options

Gusset Directly Bolted to Members: By default, the gusset will not be directly bolted to members. In the Connection Pad, you can modify this parameter so that the gusset will be bolted to the top flange of the beam members.

HXB: Horizontal X Brace Connection Options

Continuous Brace Members: By default, the brace members will not be continuous through the connection. In the Connection Pad, you can specify if the rear left/front right braces or the rear right/front left braces are continuous through the connection.
