RAM Manager Freezes after file is opened

 Product(s):RAM Structural System
 Version(s):23.00.00.92
 Environment: x64 Operating Systems
 Area: File, General

Problem Description

After launching RAM Structural System and opening a file (or creating a new one) the RAM Manager freezes and will not allow any Modules to be opened. If you try to close RAM Manager after this point an error will occur indicating "Please close any active RAM Structural System modules before closing RAM Manager."

Explanation

The program does successfully open the file, and the file contents are extracted to the working directory when this happens. The license has been checked and usage reported.

Our theory is that a virus scanner is preventing the normal saving and updating of the model files that takes place at this time.

Another possibility is that the window for the module is open, but off screen. If that's the case using the Window Key and the Arrows should work to reposition the window on the active monitor. For more on this issue see: Program Open in Task Bar But not Visible on Screen

Solution

Once the RAM Manager gets into this state the Task Manager has to be used to terminate the RamManager for Windows processes.

The next time you open the model you will have the opportunity to recover the latest files from the working directory, or to use the backup database. Assuming the problem started when the file was opened, it does not matter which of the two options you select. See also:

In some cases, simply rebooting the PC solves the issue.

In other cases we are recommending some trials:

Otherwise we suggest a clean installation:
