While analyzing the network tied arch bridge in STAAD.Pro the following warning appears ‘The value of Fyld for member (cable) does not seem to be right’. The Actual value is 1240N/sqmm (1240000kN/sqm). What is the meaning of this warning?

Answer:

You have used IS800 code which is used to design the structural steels. Generally, the maximum yield stress in those structural steels is in the range to 500 to 600 N/mm2. Here you have used 1240 N/mm2 which is much higher than that and hence program is throwing such warning to double check if the input is correct or not. If you want to use that value, please go ahead as the program is taking that value in the calculation and you can use TRACK 2 parameter to check that in detailed output.

If you want to suppress these warnings, you can use "SET NOWARNING" command in your model. Please make sure that there is no other warnings in the file as this command will suppress most of the warnings.
