    ADINA 2023 Release Notes

    release notes, ADINA

    ADINA System 23.0

    Release Notes

    For version 23.00.00.### - ExpectedDate: September 2023

    New and updated feature summary

This section lists the new and updated features that are available in ADINA System 23.0.0, as compared with

    Version: ADINA System 9.10.0.

There are new commands and new and changed parameters associated with the new and updated features. The release notes refer to the commands and parameters in the command-line formats.  Further information about the new commands and new and changed parameters can be found in the AUI Command Reference Manuals.

For user interface users, most command-line parameters have analogous fields in the dialog boxes.

Note, when we refer to documentation, we refer to the versions of the documentation given below in the “Available Documentation” section.

    Features for all programs

    Changes in versioning2023

    Version Number: 23.00.00.306

    Product Version Naming Convention

Product versioning for Bentley Systems is now based on the calendar year of the major release according to software industry practice. This is the first ADINA release following the new standard. The version number is v23.00.00v23.00.00.306, skipping versions 10 through 22 altogether.

    Download and Installation Instructions

Installation files for current and past RAM Concept releases can be downloaded from the Bentley Software Downloads page. After signing-in, the ADINA installers can be located by searching for ADINA.

    Changes in licensingLicensing

There are no changes in licensing since version 9.9.0. The following information is restated for those upgrading from older versions, 9.8.2 and prior.

The ADINA User Interface and various solvers are now licensed through the Bentley Subscription Entitlement Service (SES), one of several CONNECT services common to all Bentley desktop applications. For details on the process refer to Understanding the Subscription Entitlement Service (SES) Workflow. Each Windows user needs to be registered and must sign in to the CONNECTION Client in order to use ADINA.

    The

ADINA System is now licensed in three tiers or editions.

ADINA Standard Edition authorizes use of the ADINA User Interface (ADINA AUI) and ADINA Structures. It also includes the ADINA-M Open CASCADE interface unless the ADINA Parasolid modeler option below is selected.

ADINA Advanced includes all standard edition functionality as well as the ADINA Thermal (ADINA-T) and ADINA Thermo-Mechanical Coupling (ADAINA-TMC) solutions.

ADINA Ultimate includes all ADINA solver functionality. This includes, but is not limited to, ADINA Computational Fluid Dynamics (ADINA CFD), ADINA Fluid-Structure Interaction (ADINA FSI), ADINA Electromagnetics (ADINA EM) and other multi-physics coupling such as and ADINA FSA/EM.

ADINA Parasolid Modeler is an optional Parasolid modeling module for advanced solid modeling capabilities. This requires a separate license.

The other CAD Interfaces are free with a current Bentley Systems subscription. This is activated through  These interfaces are available to all users that subscribe to a license called Structural SELECT EntitlementsBentley maintenance program. See here for more information.

All of the ADINA Editions and interfaces are installed with the single ADINA installer.

This version also supports Linux. For details on licensing the Linux version refer to: ADINA Installation & Licensing for Linux

    Security Risk Advisory

Bentley is committed to continuously investigating and rectifying security vulnerabilities affecting its products and services. Regular checks and security fixes are a part of our releases to ensure better resilience. In this version updates were made to the version of Qt used in the user interface for the ADINA solver, graph view and adaptive meshing.

    Table of supported platformsSupported Platforms

    Platform

    Operating system

    Fortran compiler

    Intel MKL library

    Windows

    Windows 8, 8.1, 10, 11

Intel Fortran Compiler Classic, version 2022.1.0

    MKL 2022.1.0

    Linux

Linux kernel 5.4 and higher, glibc 2.31 and higher

    1. All program versions are 64-bit, using the x86_64 architecture.  The Intel 64 and AMD64 implementations of the x86-64 architecture are supported.
    2. The CPU must support the AVX extensions to the x86_64 instruction set architecture.  Most Intel and AMD CPUs released after 2011 contain these extensions.
    3. The following Linux distros comply with the minimum operating system requirements for

    Linux:

    • Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
    • openSUSE 15.4
    • Centos Stream 9
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9
    • Distros earlier than the above cannot be used with ADINA.

The Linux computer must have Firefox and libssl.so.1.1 installed, otherwise the Linux installation will abort. Firefox and libssl.so.1.1 are used for Linux licensing. Instructions for installing Firefox and libssl.so.1.1 are distro-dependent. libssl.so.1.1 is a system library used with OpenSSL 1.1.1.

    Changes in Performance

The speed of Cat 2 contact with the nonsymmetric solver is significantly improved, especially for large models when Cat 2 contact is used in conjunction with the nonsymmetric solver.

The dat file generation speed issue is improved for models with many RBE3 elements and contact groups.

ADINA Structures features- Changes in Beam Loading

New commands were added to support nonuniform partial-length beam loads and point loads along the length of a beam finite element. These commands are accessed in the AUI using Model – Loading – Apply on Nodes/Elements, or using Command-line. Refer to the ADINA User Interface Command Reference Manual and ADINA TMG – Solids & Structures for details on these new load options.

    BEAMLINEMOMENT…

    BEAMPOINTFORCE…

    BEAMPOINTMOMENT…

    BEAMFIXEDENDFORCE…

    BEAMTEMPERATURE…
