Problem

When attempting to open the Steel Beam (aka Beam Design) module from RAM Manager, a licensing window appears briefly, but the module never opens.

Resolution

A Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributable library named mfc100u.dll may be causing the problem. Removing and reinstalling the library may resolve the problem. To confirm that the library is the cause, please reproduce the problem in RAM Structural System, and then perform the following steps:

  1. Select Control Panel from the Windows Start menu.
  2. If in Category view, please switch to one of the icon views.
  3. Open Administrative Tools.
  4. Open Event Viewer.
  5. In the Event Viewer window that appears, expand Windows Logs on the left sidebar, and select Application.
  6. Look for an Error listing that occured within the last few minutes.
  7. If present, select it, and look for a faulting module name. See the screenshot below for an example.

If the faulting module refers to mfc100u.dll, perform the following steps to resolve the issue:

  1. On a 64-bit operating system, navigate to C:\Windows\SysWow64. On a 32-bit operating system, navigate to C:\Windows\System32 instead.
  2. Delete the file named mfc100u.dll.
  3. Run the RAM Structural System installer again (i.e. ramm14050300en.exe).
  4. Click the Install button next to RAM Structural System (Change/Repair/Remove).
  5. Choose the Repair option when prompted.
