Running MXRoad as restricted User

The MX installation is designed to set write access for all users on files and folders where required. So although you must install as Administrator it also sets write access for "Everyone" on the files which require it e.g.mxdefaults.cfg. So it is not necessary to modify the permissions on any filespost-installation even if the user only has "restricted user" permissions.

If an IT administrator decides to change access permissions on folders AFTER the MX installation, then the following files/folders require write access:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application data\Bentley\MX

C:\Documents and Settings\<User Profile>\Local Settings\Application\Data\Bentley\MX
for XP.

 C:\Program Data\Bentley\MX

C:\Users\<User
profile>\Appdata\Local\Bentley\MX

for Vista/Windows 7.

Users need "Full Control" on the project folders (read and write alone are not enough as this can prevent existing files being modified).

They also require Write access to Hkey_Current_User, and
HKEY_Classes_Root, and Read Access to Hkey_Local_Machine in the registry.
