I am having difficulties importing a hec-ras file into inroads.
I get an error that says
Unable to locate 'NUMBER OF PROFILES:' in import file.
Hase anyone seen this?
Do the HEC-RAS cross sections need to be georeferenced too?
Nick,
It sounds as though the file that you are trying to import is not in the correct format. For instance, here are the first few lines of my *.gis file.
BEGIN HEADER: UNITS: METRIC DTM TYPE: DTM: STREAM LAYER: CROSS-SECTION LAYER: MAP PROJECTION: PROJECTION ZONE: DATUM: VERTICAL DATUM: NUMBER OF PROFILES: 1 PROFILE NAMES: PF 1 NUMBER OF REACHES: 1 NUMBER OF CROSS-SECTIONS: 16 END HEADER:
Notice the "NUMBER OF PROFILES: 1" line. If I remove this line and try to import the file, I get the same error that you are receiving. Please make sure that your file is in the correct format.
See the following in the C:\Program Files\Bentley\InRoads Group V8.11\InRoads_V8i_Readme.chm file:
I hope this helps.

Jason,
I am having the same problem. My file contains the appropriate line, but Inroads pops up the same error. My file follows:
<SNIP>
BEGIN HEADER: UNITS: DTM TYPE: DTM: STREAM LAYER: CROSS-SECTION LAYER: MAP PROJECTION: PROJECTION ZONE: DATUM: VERTICAL DATUM: BEGIN SPATIALEXTENT: Xmin: 6203196.50168351 Ymin: 2145915.49322526 Xmax: 6226085.45887091 Ymax: 2194664.64209472 END SPATIALEXTENT: NUMBER OF PROFILES: 1 PROFILE NAMES: Max WS NUMBER OF REACHES: 1 NUMBER OF CROSS-SECTIONS: 1185 END HEADER:
</SNIP>
I tried moving and also removing the SPATIALEXTENT portion, but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
