  • Are you still in AutoCAD? Generally, unless you were in AutoCAD or you units were mismatched, InRoads does not ask you to confirm units.

    • MicroStation user since IGDS, InRoads user since TDP.
    • AutoCAD, Land Desktop and Civil 3D, off and on since 1996
  • I  use Autocad i do not use Microstation since i am not familyar with it . So i just import my Autocad drawing to Microstation than . So when i am "Creating Template" in Inroads , what unit am i using now? What is the default of the software?

  • This does depend on the version of InRoads you are using.

If you are in SS2 version 08.11.07.615 or older, the linear units comes from the InRoads Project Options (File > Project Options > Units and format > Linear Units), when the ITL file is created.

In SS3 version 08.11.09.xx, the linear units should come from the design file settings through MicroStation (Settings > Design File > Working Units).

The units are saved and stored in the XML formatting of the ITL file.

If you need to make a change to the units and the values, you can convert it from 'imperial to metric' or from 'metric to imperial' by going to File > Save As > ITL in the Create Template dialog, select the "Options" button at the bottom and choose the conversion if needed.  This will physically convert the values (i.e. offsets and elevations) of the points in all templates.

If the values (numbers) are correct and you just need to get rid of the message I believe you can open the ITL file in notepad and on the top line, there is an option for the linearUnits="Imperial".  You can simply type in the word Metric and the message should not appear next time.  and the values of the points will not change.
