It's been awhile, but I think the override name showed up in the dialog when I was selecting the points to use to apply the superelevation, but then I had to go into the point control to edit it and select the original template point name. I'm finding very little use for the point name override if it can't be invoked in the various other commands to control the corridor details.

RE: Feature Name Override as Point Control

I agree that this would be a very useful enhancement. I would like to have a template point constraint that uses the Feature Name Override as a target. I an using the end condition solution as a horizontal constraint for another point in the template. Having the Feature Name Override constraint would eliminate the need to create a new template when the existing terrain changes and causes a solution with another end condition.
IMHO, real world users need this enhancement fairly often on roadway projects. Or perhaps their technical staff can suggest an alternate use of existing functionality to achieve the desired goal?
Will try it that way...

RE: Feature Name Override as Point Control

Basically, you can not use a single point control to control multiple points in your template, which is in effect, what are you trying to do. I definitely understand and completely agree with your logic and this would be a VERY nice enhancement to the product but as Marc points out, the feature name override is not actually applied until the very last step in the corridor processing (after point controls)

RE: Feature Name Override as Point Control

Point name overrides only control the name of the features created when the corridor is processed. It does not change the name for things like point controls. For this type of control all the original names apply.
