You could possibly save as an access database and then use access to change things globally although I am not sure on that. As for the feature not being recognized I can not reproduce it. You may just need to forward your latest files for testing. Or start with a clean DGN and bring in your features fresh and process the data in to that file.

Ok, that does work. It's very confusing though because Geopak Survey smd and Geopak SS3 have switched what they consider a description and comment. Also, it now keeps crashing on me and saying maximum attribute data size exceeded. Any thoughts why?

Is there anyway to globally change the smd (since all items had comment clicked on and description clicked off) to description clicked on?

And why does it give me the Caution icon error saying feature not found when I close out and then back into the same file - where the features are clearly loaded and showing?

Then you can turn on the Description and move it to the location desired and turn off comment and then save the SMD as an XML. But for the description to show up it needs to be on in the SMD prior to exporting to an XML file.

None of my feature definitions in the smd have the "description" clicked on; instead the "comment " is clicked on.

The reason is because the smd wants some sort of constant parameter in the "description"

In the SMD you provided the Description for Sign is not turned on and configured to plot. If you change it in the SMD and then save the SMD to an XML and attach it to your drawing file it will show the 'MTL' description.

I do not see anything jump out as to why they are not plotting, could you attach your dataset. the DGN file, the SMD file you used to create your xml file that has you features in them and the XML too. Also attach the ascii file you are importing.

Not sure I know how to do a video. I can show you the data separator, linking codes and part of the ascii file used. Then there is a dgn screen shot of a sign that should say MTL in the description. I just noticed, why is there a Caution Icon and it saying SIGN Not found in feature definitions?

I did test it , and it worked fine the field description , I recommended to reset Survey Settings File Parsing Description Separator, make sure you set the proper delimiter for the field description then reprocess the ascii file, if the issue persist, please send me the files and if you can make a video when you process the ascii file will be a great help.
