How can I stop GEOPAK from wanting to find ddb file when I open Feature Definition properties?

When working to create Feature Definitions for SS3, at the point when I open the feature definitions properties to review or edit them, I always have to cancel out of one or more windows where GEOPAK wants me to identify the .ddb file. Anybody know why this is happening? I am not linking to the native database. It's a great annoyance as I have to "cancel" several times for each feature definition, as if GEOPAK is wanting to check the database for several of the data fields in the Properties dialog.
