What is numerical entry for the Project to Design Closest Component template point constraint?

I'm using SS3 GEOPAK. What is the numerical entry associated with the Project to Design > Closest Component? Am I specifiying a maximum search distance?, Can I specify a direction from the parent point of the other constraint using positive and negative?

Although the Help file doesn't specifically state this, the numerical entry is a maximum distance the projection will attempt to solve. It is also a control to tell the projection which direction to solve. If you have a negative value (any negative value i.e. -1, -10000000, -0.01, etc.) the projection will solve to the left of the parent point. If the value is positive it will solve to the right. Therefore if you want the projection to solve to the Closest Component infinitely, you can set the Projection Value to a large value where it can project and intercept the component. 
 As a side note, when you projection to the closest component, it will project to the nearest component which can be subsurface and not controlling the triangulation of the design.

Sorry, if I wasn't clear on that explanation. The Project to Design > Closest Component does not require an end condition. The point can project to either an End Condition or a Component. I was trying to get the point across that the end condition is the top of surface where the triangulation occurs, but the Project to Design > Closest Component doesn't have to be the top of surface. I have gone back and corrected the statement in the previous response.
