Merging Survey Data with attached images

PowerGEOPAK SS3 .722 
 When we have two survey .dgn files with media files attached to individual points we are unable to combine them and have the image files stay attached to the media icons, which are still apparent. Is their a recommended work around to preserve the attached images?

FYI... I have reproduced this issue and filed a Defect (Defect 162626) with development. I test in the new SS4 release, so the problem is still there as well.
