Input files and ProjectWise

Is there a way by which recently used input files managed in ProjectWise can appear in the list of recently used files in MXROAD? It is rather tedious to have to click through to the folder on PW every time I want to run the file, and running the file through the PW Integration feature doesn't run an open file, only the last saved version, even though the file is checked out.

  • I've had a check of this and unfortunately there is no link between the input files ran via the through the PW Integration and the MXRoad recently used files.

Running a file in the PW Integration panel will run the file located in the ProjectWise folder, if you haven't checked back in an updated file it wouldn't run the updates. This is standard ProjectWise file management behavior. If you don't want to check in the file constantly with every small update you will have to browse to the checked out location and run it direct from that folder.

  • I thought this had answered the question but apparently not. It seems the PW Integration doesn't work the same way as PW Explorer, and this confuses me. For example if I check out a document using PWE it copies it to my local machine to the directory set up in PWE, but if I check it out using the PW Integration in MX then it copies it to the working directory from which the MX project is run.

For what it's worth I think using the PW Integration is the best way to go, but whenever I check the file back in using this method it crashes MX, which isn't a feature that endears this method to me.

Also cf. service request 7000292713 regarding PWE demanding input files be checked in immediately after opening, which seems to happen at random.
  • From what I'm aware that is standard behavior for PW Explorer and PW Integration. I've been running tests in the PW Integration panel with checking in and out input files/other files and haven't seen any crashes occur.

Is it just with input files this occurs with? What is set as the default editor for the .inp file.

  • It only seems to occur with input files, and happens whether the file is open in an editor or not.
