Is there a way to point to a default generic stylesheet in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\InRoads Group V8.11\bin\ReportBrowser.exe.config file? This file sets the pointers to Style Sheet Help reports in the Bentley Civil Report Browser

RE: Report Browser Config File

When I do that, its blank, as there is no XML data loaded. However, they are wanting to automatically open to a default report when you click on Tools > View XML Reports and the report browser opens. There is no XML data loaded yet, just opening the Civil Report browser.

RE: Report Browser Config File

What about the right click menu when used on the left pane? Mine has a "Set as Default ..." for what looks like every folder of XSL style sheets. As far as I know, these get saved to the registry and can be exported and imported to bulk assign such settings.

RE: Report Browser Config File

Yes, good point. I was using that as an example but it definitely could be going in to any style sheet root directory. That is definitely not a solution to what you are wanting to accomplish and would probably lead to more headache because users wouldn't be able to find the full list of reports. So I am not recommending to do that, I only wanted to state that I checked it to make sure I couldn't set it up that way.

I did try looking for a way to set a registry key (similar to a default stylesheet when running the reports) but I couldn't find any information or a way to do that either. I was looking through various articles on the internet about generic XML Report Browser setup, but nothing pointed to a solution for what you want to set up.

RE: Report Browser Config File

Thanks for checking on this, Chris. Our corporate reports are set to a different style sheet root than the Bentley default. We can set report defaults in the registry if needed, but it would be dandy to be able to set a fixed entry stylesheet. Thanks again...

RE: Report Browser Config File

I could not find any information regarding a setup for the Civil Report Browser to default to a stylesheet when you open the browser through the View XML Reports. When opening the Bentley Civil Report Browser, it opens the location of the Style Sheet Root (set up through Tools > Style Sheet Root, but there are no options to control a specific XSL Stylesheet or subfolder for the Browser to load by default. You can change the Style Sheet Root to a specific folder within the C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\InRoads Group V8.11\XML Data\en location, but this still will only open the browser and not set a stylesheet to populate automatically.

I also checked the ReportBrowser.exe.config and I was unable to adjust or set any values for this to call up a stylesheet or a folder within the style sheet root to open when the Browser is initialized. Therefore I don't believe we have the ability to set a location when the browser is opened.
