I'm fairly new to Geopak. I'm working on a long roadway project and have just created several proposed .tin surfaces from cross section linework. I'm now merging the .tin files together. I know usually the .tin files have to overlap to be able

RE: V8i, SS2 - Merge TINs across a gap

You are welcome.

RE: V8i, SS2 - Merge TINs across a gap

Thank you very much for your help Neil. Add the triangles to the .DAT file then build a TIN from the .DAT file. Probably the triangles are loaded as a mesh. You'll need to drop the mesh down to triangles. Then you can add them to the .DAT file.

RE: V8i, SS2 - Merge TINs across a gap

That sounds like what I would like to do, but how do I go about adding all the triangles to a new surface? (Can this be done in Geopak SS2?). I just tried loading all the triangles from all surfaces and doing an "extract graphics", but it wouldn't let me select the triangles.

RE: V8i, SS2 - Merge TINs across a gap

If editing the files is not an option then you might try loading the triangles from all the pieces and then adding all of them to a new surface (surface from triangles). When you build the TIN the triangulation should cross the gaps.

RE: V8i, SS2 - Merge TINs across a gap

Are you saying have the same ending cross section Station in the first file and the same Station as the starting point of the second file? The reason they didn't set the project up that way is the client doesn't want duplicate information on sheets.

RE: V8i, SS2 - Merge TINs across a gap

My question is: why not append the end cross section from one file onto the beginning of the next?
