What is the effect of changing the "pivot edge" entry in the SS3 superelevation editor tool?

I am trying to generate and apply superelevation at an offset from my horizontal alignment (similar to using a tie in the prior superelevation tools). I want to generate my superelevation based off of my stationed centerline, but my true pivot point is offset by 8ft from that centerline. I have my pivot point constrained by using a point control to locate it 8 ft from my CL at the specified profile so that my profile is stationed off my CL. Changing the Pivot Edge from the right edge as generated, to the left edge, did not seem to affect anything.

My understanding is that you would define the super lanes with an offset. Then when applying the super to the corridor you would set the inside edge as the super point and the outside edge as the pivot point.
