Hi all,
I've been trying to export a current Road Design completed in Open Roads (MX) to Navisworks via the DGN but Open Roads only seems to create a mesh, not a solid, which means it doesn't display correctly and other features like clash analysis don't work properly.
Is there a way to convert an Open Roads mesh into a solid? I've tried using the Microstation tools, i.e. Mesh to Solid, Convert to Solid, etc. but they don't seem to do anything.
Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, there is not a direct way in the program to convert the mesh generated by the corridor to a solid. We have filed an enhancement request asking for this ability. Enhancement 212416 filed

I'd have to go back and look if I had a forum post associated with it, but the Convert to Solid tool using the MicroStation Modeling workflow (Default-3D model, Modeling Workflow, Solids tab, Solid Utilities tool panel) will work:
It requires that the ORD civil data be stripped from the Mesh object. I achieve this by using the File Fence keyin command (ff=) on the Default-3D model, which creates a new file that doesn't have civil data. This will also strip the GeoCS from the exported file, so you just have to remember to go in and reapply it in the new file. I was using it to create solids for export for 3D printing and have messed around with it pretty extensively.
20R3 does have a new method to create a new file without the Civil Schema, but I haven't tried working with it. I imagine it mostly does the same thing.
Another option if you're unfamilar with the Fence to File command is to reference your 3d model into a 3d DGN and use the Reference Merge to Master command.
It will strip all the "Civil" data from it (as Robert mentioned earlier) and allow manipulation of the Meshes. Make sure to use the Smart Solid option as the Primitive solid option wont work.
Its been working much better these days in ORD, however, you may still have some issues with non-Closed Meshes, eg. those created using Template Display rules, etc.
