I am creating an alinement graphically using the Civil Tools commands in SS3 Microstation V8i. I have a few shifts in the alignment. I was wondering if there was a way to create a shift command when doing my stationing essentially I would like to have two points that have the same station on along the chain.

While this may be a valid workaround (not that I've tested it, but I have interest myself for an upcoming project), this should be allowed with OpenRoads tools. I suspect that if the resulting shifted alignment were to be re-imported to OpenRoads from native, the shift would be part of the chain as a longitudinal part of the chain (at a 90-degree kink) instead of a shift, and therefore require a station equation at the end of the chain. And any offsets from this chain would then include offsets the same kink. Can we be sure that a shift will be handled correctly by OpenRoads?

I just came across this again as I have this issue myself. Using a point control offset is not a solution through a curve (stationing will be off from the PC) and with any special effects like superelevation, etc.
