How to add a shift in the alignment using open roads civil tools.

are you using inroads or geopak?

I would also like to know how to accomplish this. I am using openroads with geopak (SS4 version 08.11.09.845).

I too am looking for a way to institute a shift in an alignment using openroads. As noted in a different thread, the import function in SS4 is unable to put a shift in the alignment and I am unable to get a traditional geopak input file to do anything productive. I am referencing information from a gpk provided by our client so it is imperative that I be able to import geometry with a shift.

Why not create the full alignment in Openroads, then export to native.
After that introduce a point control at the relevant chainage with your required shift.

While this may be a valid workaround (not that I've tested it, but I have interest myself for an upcoming project), this should be allowed with OpenRoads tools.

I suspect that if the resulting shifted alignment were to be re-imported to OpenRoads from native, the shift would be part of the chain as a longitudinal part of the chain (at a 90-degree kink) instead of a shift, and therefore require a station equation at the end of the chain. And any offsets from this chain would then include offsets the same kink.

Can we be sure that a shift will be handled correctly by OpenRoads?
