Our team will be opening and updating a project that was designed using XM version (MS 8.9.451 and IR 8.9.051 or .261). Does anyone know if there will be any issues with upgrading to our current software versions (MS SS3-8.11.09.459 and IR SS2-8.11.07.566)? I realize there would be some additional functionality with the newer version, but is there any key updates that we should look out for?
I would think that once we open an IR file (.alg, .dtm, .itl, etc.) and save it, we would not or should not open that file back in the XM version. We will be sure to save an original copy of project files before upgrading.
Thanks, Tom.
To be honest, there aren't many key updates to tools that you will find are different. The processes are the same and the move from InRoads XM to InRoads SS2 is fairly painless. The only issue I recall is with some of the View Geometry commands (View Stationing, Curve Set Annotation, etc.) which require some updating because of changes to the options in the command.

The versions of the files are also compatible back to XM, so that shouldn't be an issue either.
