Importing Pattern Lines to be Key Stations in Roadway Designer

Hi Todd,

This functionality does not exist but would be helpful; therefore, I have filed Enhancement 261670 - Importing Create Cross Section Custom Linestrings as Key Stations with our Development group.

The Enhancement reads: User would like the ability to import Create Cross Section>Custom>Linestrings stations as Key Station that can be imported into Roadway Designer. This would create a more accurate surface where those individual linestrings station are located.

Todd,
1) Generate a text file with the Northing and Easting value of the intersection point of the pattern lines with the alignment you want to run the Roadway Designer along.
2) Use the Text Import Wizard to import this file as Horizontal Event Points.
3) In Roadway Designer, set Tools>Oprions to calculate a solution at Horizontal Event Points and run your model.

The trick is to generate the text file of all the intersecting points. You can do this with the Geometry>Locate command but I believe you need to left-mouse-click to accept each intersecting point. Another possible way is to generate SEPARATE surface features of each patternline and the horizontal alignment and run the Surface>View Surface>View Crossing Segments command and save the report out to text. You will need to filter this report as it has a lot of irrelevant data lines but Text Import Wizard should be capable of doing this.
