Copying a superelevation line in InRoads SS4/OpenRoads

Is there a way to copy a superelevation control line/points.  For instance I would like to copy the superelevation I created for the Left edge of pavement and have the same superelevation for the shoulder so that I don't have to re-enter all the points and I can just edit the individual stations that I need to.

Thanks,

Neal

  • As far as copying a existing super lane line as you would like to do, I cannot find anything. Perhaps the developers have a work around. I think the developers are working on improving superelevation....hopefully! Not as easy as it was in SS2.

I have done this for additional entries in SS3 on my super lane lines:

In the superelevation editor, right click on the station entry. Window will pop-up to copy. Then do a right click paste. The entry will populate at the bottom of table. Edit the entry as you like. Exit the editor, select the editor again. The entry should be in numerical order for the super lane line.

  • I tried copying and pasting yesterday and it resulted in me calling Bentley and my drawing getting corrupted. They said that they weren't sure what it was used for but gave me this answer as a way to emulate a copied superelevation line.

"It was suggested that for a new control line, instead of trying to copy you can run the Create Superelevation Lanes again and have it create a new superelevation lane for that point which can be edited. So you will have 2 lanes on top of each other. What we did for a test is create the superelevation lane but set the Type to ‘Auxilary’ Lane and have the Application Type set to ‘Follow Adjacent’. We had it create a lane starting at 12’ offset with a 12’width but that is just to control the definition of the lane. It doesn’t affect the cross slope so the slopes will be the exact same as your initial superelevation control line. Then you essentially have a copy." I haven't tried that yet but sounds like it would work.
