How to work with Template Library in ProjectWise

I wonder how it is supposed to work with .itl files when working with PowerCivil in ProjectWise with manage workspace.

I have my manage workspace set up and my .itl file in a folder in ProjectWise.

But when I make changes to the template library it will only be saved on my local temp folder on my computer, it will not be saved in ProjectWise.

Is it supposed to work like that or am I missing something in my Manage workspace configuration?

There are also simular problems with external files for other Bentley applications aswell.

Im working with PowerCivil for Sweden SS4 and ProjectWise SS4

  • You are not missing anything. This was a HUGE miss on Bentley's part, IMO. Not only does it work incorrectly through PW (like you said changes are only made on your local copy). But also, they server copy is not checked out when it appears to be open. So, if multiple people have a local copy open each one can make changes to the file, update the server copy, and continually over write each other.

You are better off to keep the variable in the workspace undefined and browse to and open the ITL each time you need to use it. That way the managed local copy and PW check in/check out procedures can be maintained.
