[OpenRoads] End Condition Exceptions: Transition type

Hi,

I would like ask for help with understanding transition functionality available under End Condition Exceptions. I have two end conditions that differ significantly: embankment and embankment with benching. I’m trying to introduce a transition over the length of 30m whereas my template drop is set to 10m. The screenshot below shows the end conditions I’m playing with. I thought that in such scenario, the software will adjust end conditions in the two intermediate template drops (at chainage 24280 and 23290) but it’s not happening.

How such transition can be achieved?

Thank you,
Krzysztof

  • Yes, it should do an intermediate transition of the end conditions at the template drops. What the program will do is interpolate between the two templates along these solid transition lines, but the program will also automatically keep the point constraints on the template points until the user makes the necessary change. After you map the transition points and you select 'OK', it will bring up the next dialog for the Edit Transition Midpoint. When you want points to freely transition between the template drops, you have to remove the constraints for the points to freely adjust. So on the next step you would delete the constraints on the points that need to adjust. Typically you can delete all constraints so the points are fully capable of adjusting for the transition.

  • Thanks Chris. Below are cross sections at ch 24270, 24280, 24290. Please read these accordingly with my first post. It look like intermediate template drops are not adjusted. Any idea why? Thanks, Krzysztof

  • Is the end condition a 'benching' end condition where you have one bench defined and have it testing to determine the number of benches and the interception? If so, this is probably the issue because it can't follow the same rules to freely move but know to control the benching properties as well. There was a prior defect filed for this situation which cannot be resolved. The way the ruling of the benching works does not allow it us to control the transitioning. (Defect D-63538)

What you will likely do in this situation is create the end condition to the specifications so it can know to rule the points and allow you to remove the constraints on the points properly. You will need to create all benches as regular points in the end condition and have it targeting the ground.
