Cannot save Cross Section Preferences in Geopak

Question

I am working on creating a set of cross sections, but I cannot save the preferences that I am entering. When I open the Preferences window from the Create Cross Sections window, the Save. Save As..., and Delete are grayed out, and clicking on Load does not do anything. This is also true for the preferences for Annotate Cross Sections and End Area Volume preferences. 
 I am new with using Geopak so its very possible that this is user error and I am not doing something correctly, but I feel that this is fairly straight forward. Can anyone provide some insight on this issue?

I had a similar problem myself. To be more generally accurate, the XIN file is established in Geopak's configuration variable CIVIL_XIN_FILE. In my workspace, I have it pointing in a different direction.

ok. those preferences are stored in the .XIN file. that file is set up by the variable civil_xin_file by default it points to C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation V8i ss4\WorkSpace\projects\examples\Bentley-Civil-Imperial\data\feature_definitions\Civil_Features_Imperial.xin 
you would need read/write access to that folder, unless you point the variable to another xin that you can modify.
