unable to detach references

Microstation SS4

I am currently unable to detach any references. I get a message that says something like "unable to detach a managed model"

Our clients do not need to see our references in our deliverable files. Please help.

Try selecting the 2d and 3d model attachments of that dgn and detach at the same time

Hello Will,

Could you please let me know what is the file format which you are trying to detach ? If possible for you, can you please let me know what is the exact eight digit version number of Microstation you are using. I would also like to mention that this message will appears when create a civil model in a reference file and if the same reference file opens in a non-civil application such as Microstation.

version 08.11.09.714. I am referencing .dgn files. these files are all created in Microstation. I am not sure that I understand what you mean by a "civil model"

If using OpenRoads tools in MX/InRoads/GEOPAK, a 3D DGN model is created when a 2D design is assigned a profile and a corridor is created (for example). This 'civil model' is managed by the OpenRoads tools, and this is likely to be the cause of your message "unable to detach a managed model".

I found another forum post with a similar issue happening and there is a workaround posted that may help you with your issue as well. Might be worth a look.

I don't have a good solution but the issue with the inability to detach reference files is annoying and I'm being as nice as I can. the project is not using open roads or power geopak, still I have to open pwr geopak to detach which means exit and open the file again. I have not found a good solution. I will have to contact Bentley directly as this is a waste of time and we just spent almost 100 k in additional software.
