I just noticed that the Stationing dialog box still refers to both Vertical Alignments and Super-elevation as something to be adjusted if the stationing of an alignment is made. As I understand it, Since the release of the Roadway Designer, Super-elevation was removed from alg files and relocated into the Roadway Designer Corridors.
So shouldn't the Stationing dialog box only offer to adjust Vertical Alignments?
However, this then begs a new question. How does one adjust super-elevation in the Roadway Designer after an alignments stationing is adjusted?
OK, that explains that - but shouldn't it refer to cant stationing instead of superelevation? I would have ignored it, if it had been.
But if we need to redefine the stationing, is there a way to deal with Roadway Designer superelevation?
To be honest, this has always been problematic. Sometimes we get direction to extend or shorten an alignment. Or they will ask us to assign a particular station to a particular point, long after we have created our profiles and on occasion, after beginning our superelevation designs.
Making these type of adjustments usually requires some hoop jumping to get the stationing re-synchronized between these three parts of the design. Somehow, we need a way to lock superelevation PI's and and vertical alignments PI's to a specific point on the alignment and if we lengthen, shorten or reassign a starting station value, the physical locations that these occur at are retained but the stationing numbers adjust accordingly.
