ALG Issue

This happens sometimes when you ccrash as described.  To fix, do the following:

1. Open the ALG
2. Right click on the geometry project name and select Details
   1. You should get a dialogue box that appears that lists all the alignments and the current access (read/write).  In your case they should be all set to read only and you should also see that they are all listed as checked out to someone.  That someone being the person who had it opened when it crashed
3. Highlight them all
4. Hold "CTRL" button down (I can never remeber if it is CTRL, ALT, or SHIFT so if CTRL does not work try another one) and select Free on the right side
5. You will then need to check them all out bu highlighting them all and select Check Out
6. Once you do this you should be able to close the ALG and it should return to the normal access operation.

Thanks for the reply. I tried doing what you suggested but the check out button is greyed out. It is showing that all the alignments are locked by another user (a user who is no longer in the file and has tried to free the alignments unsuccessfully).

sounds like you missed the steps to FREE trhe files first by holding CTRL down and selecting free.

The alignments are supposed to and have in the past been freed when you save and close the alg in InRoads. The coworker normally exited the alg but his name is still listed as locking the alignments in read/write. When he gets back into the alg, he cannot free it.
