Importing 12D models to PowerCivil

Hi

I have been trying to import either of the attached files. The “.txt” file is known as a “Geneo” file from 12D and is a replica of the “.12da” file.

I can import the text file as a surface but it doesn’t bring with it the string information of the model such as the centre lines and break lines and symbology.

All of this information is recorded in the 12.da file and can be seen if opened as a text file. I dont mind using MX, inRoads, Microstation Connect edition or PowerCivil if that helps to get the model from 12D --> PowerCivil.

Any help importing this sort of information would be appreciated.

  • Use MX to get the GENIO data into MX. You can then draw the relevant strings, and 'Import from Native' to get the MX strings into OpenRoads entities. These OpenRoads entities can then be opened in PowerCivil, and I would then 'Export to native' to get the data into PowerCivil (if you need the centrelines in PowercCIvil - rather than working with the OpenRoads toolset.)

  • Hi,
We have managed to get line strings working between the different software platforms. We now want to take it to the next level and see if we can do an entire design in PowerCivil and export the model file into a genio text format.
Creating "dumb" line strings we are able to do through dtm of LandXML but creating editable component we are struggling with.
If anyone has worked through a similar scenario where they need to export back to Genio please get back to us with your ideas or thoughts.
