Clip mesh to terrain model

Is it possible to clip a mesh (representing excavation for a bridge pier) to the existing ground surface (terrain) or triangles3D-Excavation_test.dgn?

I want to turn the excavation mesh into a terrain model and use analyze volumes to figure the excavation quantity.

  • I'm using Power Geopak V8i SELECTseries 4 version 08.11.09.851

The survey file was too big to upload.  I tried to upload only the triangle file but it's too large also.  Can I email you the file or get it to you some other way?  File size is 23.6kB.

  • I presume you mean 23.6 MB :-) Could you create a clipped terrain around the 3D excavation area, in a separate file, and post that?

I am using the OpenRoads tools in PowerCivil 8.11.9.845 - which are the same as you have in GEOPAK (and MX, which I normally use).

Anyway, the attached PDF is how I calculated the cut volume (at least, what I think is the cut volume you are talking about!) using two different methods.

    Hope it helps.
