SS4 OpenRoads - Is there a way to combine cross section models to make it easy to view and annotate?

I cut my initial cross section in the model BRWY.  I then had some sections that I needed to add so I cut them into there own model (BRWY_1 and BRWY_2) and then copied them into my other model named BRWY (so I just had one model for my cross sections).  But now when I go to view or annotate it still displays them as separate cross section models.  Is there a way to fix this or is there a work around so I don't have to annotate three different models?

  • There is no way to combine these in to a singular model. What you are actually seeing with the tool you referenced, or any of the annotation/volumetric commands is actually the old SS2 cross section indicator (text node at lower left corner of each cross section). I would assume that is why you can still annotate and view them in a drawing model (a cross section model is actually a drawing model whereas the dynamic sections from the corridor are actually cross section models with coordinates of offset and elevation).

I am curious though, after you copied the cross sections in to BRWY from the other to models were you able to annotate them in the correct model and location?

  • Yes after I copied the cross sections into the BRWY I was able to annotate them correctly. I could just see this getting out of hand cause we are constantly adding or deleting cross section or adding and taking away from cross sections and if that is going to create a new cross section model every time the power of annotating everything at once using the tool really goes away.
  • Well it seems if I cut a whole new cross section and delete the old one I can but if I try to add something to an existing cross section from a newly cut cross section it can't find the feature...
