Geopak Drainage Subareas Automatic Delineation not working

MicroStation V8i SS3 08.11.09.459

Geopak V8i SS2 08.11.07.615

  • I have a drainage design gdn file (2D file) open, a Geopak drainage file (.gdf) open, and all the drainage preferences have been setup.
  • I have referenced another dgn which consists of land use shapes. I have two landuse types only (pavedareas and buildings). The paved areas and buildings are in two separate levels with different colors but same line styles and line weights.
  • In my Geopak Drainage Library window, under the Land Use tab, I have established a land use dataset . The two land use types have been added and their styles have and levels have been set to match what was done in the Land Use reference file.
  • I drew a drainage basin and then used the "Select Shape" option in the "Drainage Area" window. Geopak recognized this shape and picked up its area.
  • I then went into the "Subareas" tab to use the "Automatic Delineation" option and get a composite runoff coefficient. Here is where I face an issue - Automatic Delineation doesn't seem to work. Even though the drainage area shape straddles two land use types, Geopak returns this message in the message bar " No Land Uses found within Drainage Area Boundary".
  • I have checked and double checked the Land Use Library to see if I have the correct levels and line styles set up.

Has anyone faced this issue before?

  • Hi Vinod,

yes, it came through and I replied. I resolved the issue - it was inconsistent level symbology applied to the land use shapes.

I was expecting a reply from you a couple of day ago... :-)

Here is what I wrote in the email I sent you:

    Hi Vinod,

There was some inconsistency within the area symbology within your DGN.

For example, one shape had the weight set to “By Level (weight =1)” whereas another shape had the weight set to “weight = 1”. Unfortunately, these are not the same thing.

So, once I had set the shapes to consistent symbology, and created a new Land Use definition that was configured to search for the two symbology definitions, it all seems to work as expected (see image below).

I’ve attached your DGN (with symbology fixed), the drainage library that has the new land use definition I created and the very simple drainage project I created to test the land use.
