Breaks are not recognized when extracting graphics and building triangles

I am trying to append a .dat file to include breaks.  I start in DTM>Extract>Graphics, and in the "Extract Graphics" window I use the following settings:  File Type:  Ascii, File Open:  Append, Feature:  Breaks, Mode:  Extraction, No stroking, Decimal:  2, Extract:  Selection Set.  I select the chain that I would like to have used in my .tin as a breakline, but when I click Apply my .dat file will not append.  There are no changes to the "Date Modified" time signature of my .dat, but the lower left corner of my screen does say "Extract selection set complete."  I then go to Build>Triangle and create a new .tin with my should be appended .dat, but the new tin does not have breaklines in it.  I am using MicroStation V8i (Select Series 3), Version 08.11.09.655.  Does anyone know why Extract Graphics will not recognize selected chains as breaklines?

  • The "Extract Graphics" tool does not appear to be something that is in a plain installation of MicroStation. You advised that you are using the 08.11.09.655 version which can be installed as a dependency of other Bentley software packages. The explanation of this tool appears to be a Civil product. I will move your post to the Civil forum.
