I am trying to append a .dat file to include breaks. I start in DTM>Extract>Graphics, and in the "Extract Graphics" window I use the following settings: File Type: Ascii, File Open: Append, Feature: Breaks, Mode: Extraction, No stroking, Decimal: 2, Extract: Selection Set. I select the chain that I would like to have used in my .tin as a breakline, but when I click Apply my .dat file will not append. There are no changes to the "Date Modified" time signature of my .dat, but the lower left corner of my screen does say "Extract selection set complete." I then go to Build>Triangle and create a new .tin with my should be appended .dat, but the new tin does not have breaklines in it. I am using MicroStation V8i (Select Series 3), Version 08.11.09.655. Does anyone know why Extract Graphics will not recognize selected chains as breaklines?

ok. I found a defect on the early ss2 versions. Basically, you have to turn on the option to create the .dat file. If you do that, it should include the breaks. see capture
the steps from your first post are using the extract graphics from dtm tools. you need to use this one from survey > build dtm from
