Jeff, no problem. what version of geopak are you using? are the chains smd features set to be included in the dtm?

First, thank you so much for hanging in there with me for this whole thread. But unfortunately I've tried the "Create DAT File" box checked. I've also experimented with the Set Search > More Details and then checked every box option. Survey chains cannot seem to be picked up by Geopak as breaklines.

ok. I found a defect on the early ss2 versions. Basically, you have to turn on the option to create the .dat file. If you do that, it should include the breaks. see capture

the steps from your first post are using the extract graphics from dtm tools. you need to use this one from survey > build dtm from

Hey Nico, I watched the video and followed all the steps, but this process is really no different than the one I have listed in my first post. Also, after following the steps in the video, my survey chains are still not recognized as breaklines. Sorry I don't think this is the answer.

I hope you have a backup or can undo the breaking of the chains. You have a survey project and you can create the dtm directly from survey.

Hey breaking the chains into linestrings worked! But now I cannot use chain editor on my chains once they have become linestrings. Is there a happy in-between where I could still have chains that can be recognized as chains and also breaklines?

Looks like a geopak survey chain. you could build the tin directly from survey.

Jeff, when you do an info on those chains, what element type are they? you may need to break them down to lines/line strings

The "Extract Graphics" tool does not appear to be something that is in a plain installation of MicroStation. You advised that you are using the 08.11.09.655 version which can be installed as a dependency of other Bentley software packages. The explanation of this tool appears to be a Civil product. I will move your post to the Civil forum.
