How to annotate open roads survey generated linear features in cross sections?? I have a linked xin and the survey feature definitions are dependent on the native styles. In the styles I have all the cross section annotation options enabled. Can't seem to get anything to work, any ideas??
Survey Data is not going to display in cross sections (or profiles). When you have survey feature definitions linked to the XIN, it is looking at the information under the Style, but it is still limited to exactly what options is reads. It is only looking at the Plan option for the symbology display. The Profile and Cross Section options exist in the symbology because the native symbology can be used for Surface features and Geometry features. Survey just doesn't follow this display and doesn't work the same way as a Terrain or Geometry Linear Features. What you have to do is convert the survey to a terrain or geometry and it would use the Feature Definitions to display in sections.

This is less than ideal. I hope that the Open Roads Designer will consider this as a need. The DGN as a container is supposed to replace the feature based DTM. With it, when I made a DTM from Survey, those features could be annotated and frequently were. Having to duplicate elements to annotate them should not be part of a best practice.
