I can easily place COGO points using the Open Roads tools.
2 Questions
1. How do I when placing the COGO points label them at the same time
2. Generate a report of the COGO points in order to export to Excel.
I am using PowerCivil South Africa V8i SS4
You can name a Cogo point while in the "New Cogo Point" tool.
Here's a link to assigning names:

Here's a link about exporting Cogo points:

You can try generating a xml by navigating to Tools > XML Reports > Geometry
I hope something here is able to help you.

1. If you place a Cogo point using the OpenRoads tools, select a feature definition and give it a name. The feature definition points to the xin file for annotation.
2. You can use the Point Feature Station Offset tool to create a report of the Cogo points then export to Excel. You must have a horizontal alignment to use this tool.
Bulk reporting of Cogo points has to be done with the native tools. Tools > XML Reports > Geometry.
Hi Jeff,
Thank you for your response. Saves many hours.
I am battling to change the annotation of the Cogo point by editing the xin file. I change the xin to display just the name but when I place a new point all the annotation is like before. It does not display just the name as I want it to.
I had the same issue where the point labeling didn't follow the xin preference file settings. The issue turned out to be that the Feature Definition Geom_Key wasn't actually looking back at the xin file instead it was looking to an Element Template. I attached screenshots to show how to fix the issue.

I hope this helps!
