GEOPAK-LINETYPE VIEW

Hello,

I am using Power Geopak V8i SS2.

I have section files that have been published into sheet files using the Cross Section Sheet Composition tool.  Also, the workspace I am using is a DOT provided workspace, which does not allow me to change levels, I just use the information the DOT provides.  However, I noticed one of the linetypes is not displaying in the sheet file the same as it is displaying in the model file.  My model (design) file is referenced into the sheet.  I reviewed the reference properties and cannot see anywhere an obvious control that may cause this to happen.  Attached are two pics of the linetype as it is displayed in the sheet file (first pic) and one of how it is displayed in the model file (second pic).  Any suggestions why this would happen ?

  • This may be more of a Microstation thing than a Geopak thing.
First thing would be to check your view settings in the "bad" file - make sure that "Line Styles" is checked ON.
Another View Setting to check might be Level Overrides - that can make levels appear incorrectly.
Also check your global linestyle scale is set to something large (or small) enough so that your line style display's properly.

    Do any of those help?

  • MaryB,

I have the Line Styles checked-on in the View Attribute settings and Level Overrides is off. When I looked at the level properties, I do not get a scale option but they are set to "By Level". Any other thoughts?
  • ByLevel linestyle scales are available on the second tab of the level properties dialog. Linestyle scales are also controlled by a global factor (or annotation scale) that is set in your model properties. And that all assumes that your elements are actually drawn ByLevel.

Another setting you could try - In your Reference File Dialog, highlight your reference file and go (in the Ref. dialog) to Settings -> Attachment Settings. Near the bottom of the dialog that opens, there is an option for "Global LineStyle Scale". This usually defaults to Master, but has an option for Reference. You can try that as well.

This is, unfortunately, the appearance of something that could be dependent on more than one setting, or combination of settings.

  • MaryB,

After trying all the options, nothing is working.  The file, per a previous submittal, was displaying the correct linetype, which I have verified.  The only change I have made to the file is: I imported the base file (showing correct linetype) into a revised dot file because I was unable to merge to master the new DOT file  into my base file, but was able to merge to master my file into the DOT file.  It is acting like the linetype definition is not getting read correctly or at all.  It does display correctly in my base file, it is just in the sheet where it is referenced into, that it appears as a solid line with no style applied.  I also updated the workspaces from the DOT website to ensure it is not a corrupt workspace variable, but no results.  I also tried importing the level that is problematic into my sheet from the base file, and Compressed file, but still get no results.  When I zoom in close to view the "solid" line in the sheet view,   I see a lot of "12"" numbers above the line, see attached pic. I have not ever encountered this before.  Any other suggestions are much appreciated.

  • I've seen instances where a linestyle was imported into a file and somehow it was corrupt. By deleting the linestyle from the file, we were able to get the correct display as it was now reading it from the RSC file.
I've also use the imported linestyle to allow us to use a non-standard linestyle in a project without anyone catching on. With the linestyle contained in the file, there is no RSC file to send or share and it still plots correctly. Since they are not running any standard checking software, it was not a problem.
