Annotate Cross Section - How to Keep you "Crossing Feature" Selection Set

So when using the Annotate Cross Section tool, we typically load our preferences and then data point the points we want to annotate which in return creates a selection set of all the points you/I clicked on but when I close the tool I lose all those points that I selected for the next time I need to annotate the same cross sections. Is there a workflow or different way/tool of annotating cross section that will keep the points I select for the next time I need to annotate the same cross sections? I don't see anyway of saving my settings other then preferences and that doesn't seem to save the points I selected previously.

  • I am going to answer this in two parts because I am not sure the version you are using:

    1. If using the InRoads product version 08.11.07.615 or older, you can utilize the Feature Selection Filters to filter the feature names into a saved filter.  Then if you have the Feature Filter Lock ON, it will only show the features from the filter.  You can set this up so you don't have to select each individual feature each time.

    2. If using the OpenRoads Cross Sections (InRoads, GEOPAK, MX SS3+), then I don't know of a way to have it maintain the features selected.  The issue is the options are not stored in a preference for what features you have selected because they can change and really should not be saved.  It really needs to scan the DGN for available features and so it could add features in the list or remove some if they are not displayed in a cross section model.  Then if you change the Cross Section model you are annotating it will completely redo the list.  So there isn't a good way of storing the selected features you want to annotate.
