I am not getting superelevation handlers anymore

Do you have the control handles on other elements, or is only superelevation affected?

OK user error. Was helping a colleague and did not realize that "disable handles" button in the element selection tool was depressed. Noticed that when we looked to see if any other handlers were available - and no, they weren't - so that made me ask about that button.
