Hi all,
I know its still early days but will any OpenRoads SDK data/examples be released with ORD any time soon? eg. SS4 examples in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Civil\SDK Examples\.
Seeing as OR is no longer an add-on this would help the industry add to the toolset, automate some preocesses the same way they have been for the legacy products
cheers,
Mark
Hi Mark and Michael,
I believe the ORD SDK is delivered with the product. I am currently exploring and researching the ORD objects in the Visual Studio Object Browser to determine the available methods and classes. With respect to properties, I see mostly getters with no setters and thus Michael we are looking at a read only api. I will continue to dive into this... I also see more abstract classes and interfaces than public classes. There is an OpenRoads event in Phoenix on October 23-24, https://www.bentley.com/en/global-events/learn-conference/phoenix with an OpenRoads Designer Software Development Kit (SDK) Lecture on October 24. It's only 1 hour. Only enough to get an extremely basic overview. I will continue to research the ORD SDK in the meantime.
Thanks Marty, if someone could record this session for those of us internally that would be fantastic.
The more people who get into developing using the sdk the more practical functionality we'll get with custom tools developed for live projects.

I believe Bentley is going to record it for a Web conference after the live event. However, you cannot ask questions (of course). I will be attending the event in Phoenix and registered to take the SDK lecture based class.
Hi all, any recordings / materials of this available online yet?
Hi Mark,
I take it you did not attend the conference. The ORD SDK lecture was a somewhat brief 1 hour introduction on the SDK with no examples given. The take away from the conference was that the ORD SDK will be officially released in 2018 (I think it was stated as March - not sure). Initially it will be a read-only API. Mike Wilson of Bentley did request feedback on what we would like to see in the SDK. He also stated, that if we would like to test a pre-released version of the SDK, send him an email at the end of the year. This would be with the understanding that this is not a final product and that things can change. What might be publicly accessible to us as developers now, may not be available in the official release. You can currently use the MicroStation CONNECT Edition SDK with OpenRoads Designer for MicroStation commands, like the other CONNECT Edition products such as MicroStation, PowerDraft, AECOsim and the upcoming Bentley Map.
I have done some research on my own prior to the conference, but it has been suggested that I do not do this due to fact that the SDK can change. You can currently take a look at Bentley.CifNET.GeometryModel.SDK.4.0.dll in the Visual Studio Object Browser with the understanding that things could change in the official release.
Best Regards,
Marty Robbins
