To my knowledge should a 3D reference be attached to a 2D model space it would only automatically be attached to the 3D if it has an active effect on the model. Example being setting a referenced terrain model active in the 2D model space. However I don't think that this is the case after i've tried using the Turbine Locations.dgn attached to the 3D instead of the Default model of new.dgn via live nesting. By applying the vertical offset in this manner the same problem of elements not constructing occurs.

Hi Damian,

I believe this has something to do with your reference file, Turbine Locations.dgn. I noticed that you attached the 3D model to the Default model of the new.dgn. When this is done, it should automatically attach it to the Default-3D model of new.dgn as well. For some reason you either deleted it, or it did not attach itself. You will want to reattach the Turbine Locations.dgn to make sure that it creates the attachment in the Default-3D. I do not have your .itl, so it's a little hard for me to test to make sure this is the cause of it all. But after I did a few tests, I'm pretty sure this is it. If after you redesign your civil cell and it's not working, please let me know.

Thanks for the swift response. Creating a civil cell using the 3D point and the rotator described above as references works perfect. When placing the cell everything functions as it should. However should I set a profile to the color 37 line, extending from the point using the tool "profile by slope from point", before creating the civil cell some elements are seemingly lost. The references are highlighted as if valid when creating it (civil cell preview pane as well), but when trying to place it the cell does not fully construct.

Hi Damian,

Thanks for attaching your data. I have it open, but from your description I'm having a hard time seeing your question. What is your workflow when you say that several dependencies are lost, and can you give me an example of a lost dependency? I created a civil cell from the new file, and placed it on the point below that civil cell. All seemed to transfer properly, but I could be missing something or not see it correctly. If you could guide me a little more in depth information of what problem you're seeing, I'll be able to troubleshoot it for you.
