ORD CONNECT Fact sheet

Hello

The OpenRoadsDesigner CONNECT edition fact sheet (2016) states on page 4:

Will i still be able to use my legacy preference files (XIN) with OpenRoadsDesigner?

You will be provided with the utilities that directly convert your legacy files for use in OpenRoads Designer.

Any comments on this? I am yet to come across anything that will assist us in converting aspects of our XIN files to function in ORD Connect. Am i correct in assuming that this is actually not possible? I.e. annotation preferences that we used that were stored in XIN files would be near impossible to convert to annotation groups etc as required in ORD?

  • There is nothing released yet to do this... still might come in the future, but the way to do this now will be to import the XIN/DDB using the SS4 product, then upgrade that DGNLIB.  This would be specifically for Feature Styles from an XIN or Items from a DDB.  The command preferences stored in the XIN (like the annotation preferences mentioned above) will not mapped because the commands and workflows are so different between the products.
